Sapphic inspiration aside, Rosalind is inarguably a winemaker to watch, with a pedigree that belies her young age (she's Pax Mahle's assistant winemaker, and has worked alongside Martha Stoumen, Jaimee Motley, and Scott Schultz of Jolie-Laide). Another reason to be compelled by this not-quite-orange-wine? The dry-farmed, certified organic Muscat Vert - not exactly standard, Russian River Valley viticulture - is sourced from a 3-row parcel usually reserved for the vineyard owner's personal production (and the resulting wine is only sold in Japan!). With that in mind, the complexity and character here should come as no surprise - tea tree oil and citrus rind lead the way into cape gooseberries, hen of the woods mushroom, and raspberry. A 6-day maceration on the skins lends a tangerine hue, and fine-grained tannins that concentrate on the mid-palate. Tell your sister I say hi...and ask if she wants to share a bottle in the U-Haul.
