The story of Rose & Son is a bit of a journey: recent survivors of WWII, they settled in Paris before booking passage on the Queen Mary, emigrating to Brooklyn and establishing a small bakery, and finally traveling west to the Santa Ynez Valley. Now, Jonathan Rosenson farms 58 organic acres of vineyards with his son, focusing on pure fruited expressions of Southern Rhone varieties. Their carbonic carignan is exactly that: all the cherry fruit, ripe strawberry, and baking spice that carignan offers but with a lighter, leaner, crunchier profile. Refreshing, juicy, and with a bright backbone of acid throughout.
