Meet your unlikely new best friend. It’s a Malvasia from Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands. The Bermejos vineyards are planted in a barren volcanic landscape where they dig out small pits to protect the berries from strong coastal winds, giving it the appearance of a cratered moonscape. This is bursting with floral, lime zesty, spearminty, smoked salty rock aromatics, which carry forward to the palate, mid-weight, and with zippy acidity. Man do we love it when wines that are this intellectually interesting are *also* this delicious!
