This wine hails from a dry and windy patch of the Languedoc, from vines perched on the foothills of rugged Mount Alaric. Wines from this part of the world can sometimes be brooding and overpowering but not the case here. Jean-Baptiste Gilbert, who recently took the reins from his folks, farms organically and makes surprisingly lifted and energetic wines that tow the line between drinkability and heft. The wine is a field blend of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault gives an earthy, gamey quality with lifted notes of wild raspberries and blackberries. This one is begging for BBQ so light up the grill & pull the cork.
