“In a region where parking lots double as showrooms for the latest in Ferraris and Maseratis, Cathy Corison drives a Toyota Prius.” Thus began a Times review about the wondrously balanced wines of Corison -- and as superficial a start as that is, it gets at both Corison’s status as an iconoclast, and her humility and restraint... both qualities that show up in her wines. Eschewing the norm of blending lots of Bordeaux varietals, Corison makes 100% Cabernet, and we don’t know a more convincing case than this one for pure CA cab: graphite, cloves, anise atop a layer of black and blue fruit.
