Some would argue “Les Poyeux” is the place to go for Cabernet Franc apotheosis. While the most famous winemakers working this hallowed ground are unquestionably the Foucault brothers at Clos Rougeard, they have a rather formidable youngster nipping at their heels: young Ludovich Sanzay, who's now making the wines alongside his parents Didier & Céline. Farmed organically and vinified simply (native yeast, no additions), the sandy soils of the 60+ year-old Les Poyeux vines absolutely shine here: dark, macerated blueberry and cherry fruits with hints of cinnamon, leather and green herbs. Rich, glorious, serious stuff.
