2021 Domaine des Cotes Rousses 'Coteau de la Mort'

Modern label, but a classic, timeless expression of Savoie. Sourced from (and named for) a vineyard that's been farmed since the 11th century, this is straight mountain juice, with smoked plum and violet flowers on the nose, and rose-scented cranberry and clove-spiked cherry dancing along a dense core of graphite minerality on the palate. Firm tannins and a cooling herbaceousness follow through the long, textured finish. Stunning.
