Have you heard? Syrah’s back in, and it’s wines like this one leading the charge. Bedrock’s Morgan Peterson has become justifiably famous for two things: virtually cornering the market on some of California’s most historic old-vine vineyards, and delivering wines that massively overperform. As here: a blend of some of the best Syrah in CA (Hudson, Weill, and Bien Nacido), the wine saw roughly 40% whole-cluster inclusion to amplify perfume and spice and were raised in a variety of puncheons, demi-muids, and smaller barrels with just a trace (less than 5%) new oak. Peppery, meaty-rich, and brimful of all of those purple floral aromas that mark the best Syrah the world over.
