These micro-production, minimal-intervention-inclined wines are some of our absolute favorites from the southern hemisphere. With his "Del Mono" he's made quite possibly our favorite Malbec of 2020 at this price point... partly because he had the great idea to split it 50/50 with Syrah! Sourced from high-altitude fruit (3700 feet!) grown on chalk-laden soils in Argentina's Tupungato district, it's fermented in concrete eggs to preserve the purity of the fruit. All but bursting with juicy purple fruit, it has hints of cocoa, and a freakish level of balance for the price.
