After leaving the VB/SC ecosystem, Jason created one of the coolest recent projects in all of Californian wine: Stereophonic. Classic wine styles from Napa, Paso Robles and the Central Coast are suddenly re-imagined via the Leflerian lens, with no question left un-asked; inspirations are drawn from a wild range of art, cinema, music, literature and gaming (which the colorful labels make abundantly clear).
Jason's been working up and down the Central Coast for a few years now, sourcing fruit from some powerhouse vineyards and forging relationships with the folks who tend to them. In 2020, he found Kimsey Vineyard, a site in the cool end of the Ballard Canyon AVA, managed by Ruben Solorzano (of pioneering Ballard Canyon icon, Stolpman Vineyards). Jason zeroed in on a small parcel of high-density Alban clone plantings - a rich, meaty, lush clone of Syrah - fermented it 50% whole cluster, and aged it in neutral oak. If you've had Stereophonic wines before, you'll recognize the familiar balance of plush dark fruits, balanced aromatics, and surprising freshness. If you haven't: a.) what have you been waiting for?, and b.) THIS is the perfect place to start.
The 2020 Kimsey Vineyard Syrah sells for $65 on Stereophonic's website. But we've got a guy on the inside, and he's offering a friends and family discount... which we're now passing along to you!
