The best thing about Arnot-Roberts’ wines is the simplicity of their process -- find the best fruit from the most interesting vineyards in California and let that fruit express itself in vinous form. For this bottling, they sourced Chardonnay from Watson Ranch in southern Napa where some of the very few limestone subsoils exist in California. The piercing minerality balanced with buttery body sets it apart from its neighbors; there’s a reason they’ve quickly become “cult.” Me? Cult-schmult! I just wanna take this one down with a dozen oysters or three.
