TL; DR: Get one of the most life-affirming reds we've had all year... for a mere fraction of the cost of a Kundalini Seminar held in the forests of Big Sur! Organically farmed, no-sulfur-added, low-alcohol Gamay from 50-year-old vines in one of the top "crus" of Beaujolais... this is pure, vasodilating sense-joy in a bottle! (Our price on Bottle 1 is the best in the country... but our price on the case is, well, obscene!)
It's been a long pandemic.
Looking to re-charge your vinous chakras? Ready to move beyond the varietal missionary position, and cease from tediously hammering away at Cab and Pinot, day in and day out? Look no further — it’s time you consulted the Bojo Sutra!
All groans aside: one of the most genuinely exciting new pleasure-givers in the shop has arrived: the organically farmed, no-sulfur-added Gamay from Regnié, Beaujolais, made by the Burgundy-based natural winemaking team of Jean-Pascal Sarnin and Jean-Marie Berrux.
Winemakers Sarnin and Berrux, tasting the fruits of their labor
While the label's playful (there are actually seven different labels, all with different, um, ideas expressed; collect them all!), the duo is as serious as winemakers get: they're famed for working exclusively with organic fruit (in a region not at all known for it!), and their naturally made Volnay (read: sexypants, delicate Burgundian Pinot) can be seen on the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants all over Europe.
But it's their Beaujolais (part of Burgundy, let's not forget!) that recently aroused our attentions the most. Their "Le Bojo Sutra" is Gamay at its blood-quickeningly purest: deeper and more brooding than the Beaujolais Nouveaus you quaffed last fall, it nevertheless retains all the vim and vibrancy of the freshest of those wines.
The grapes for their Bojo Sutra are sourced from organically farmed, 50 year-old vines in the granitic soils of Régnié: one of the 10 "Crus" of (read: best zip codes in) Beaujolais. It's low-alcohol, fresh and delightfully easy to drink: full of tart red currant and bramble flavors, carried forth on a juicy light-medium body, along with all the lively acidity that is Gamay's hallmark.
Just in time for Valentine's Day! Organically farmed, old-vine, low-alcohol Gamay that’s not messed with at all (unfined, unfiltered, zero sulfur added). Here's a red that's ready to unlock your body's spinning vortices of energy: bright, light, and almost elegant in its transparent gluggability — and delicious in every position!
