Two Shepherds: A California Wine Event @ College Ave. Thursday, September 19th
College Ave.
Thursday, September 19th
5-730pm
$15 ($5 Club)

This guy—William, not his not pet donkey, gorgeous-looking though the latter is—will be behind the bar pouring his Two Shepherds wines on Thursday. William was called California's "Rhone-style rockstar" by SF's own Esther Mobley. He was celebrated by the NY Times' Eric Asimov repeatedly and with fervor ("I've pretty much loved every one..."). Two Shepherds is all that and more. These are organically made, dry-farmed, minimally-intervened-upon, low-alcohol, and above all beautiful wines. In the beginning, he specialized in Rhone varieties. Now, they are known for the odd/fun grapes you may not have heard of, such as Trousseau Gris and Pinot Meunier. We’ll be featuring wines from both ends of the spectrum.

Why Two Shepherds? This may be the coolest part. In his own words: "everyone contributes on our farm & vineyard." Since 2015, his partner (in life & at Two Shepherds), Karen Daenen, aka Chief Shepherdess, has been there every step of the way, and so have their 3 donkeys, 3 goats, 5 chickens, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. When one of their wines matches the personality or style of one of these animals, they get a wine named after them!

So come by on Tuesday, meet William, and talk about the wine, the farm, his donkeys—whatever you like.
