Join us at Vine Street to taste the wines of collaborative winemaking team Envínate (translation: Wine Yourself!). Alyssa Papiernik from Farm Wine Imports (recently returned from the Canary Islands!) will be here spilling stories and wisdom about this winemaking supergroup who make some of the most ethereal & exciting Canary Island and mainland Spanish wines we've had.
Envínate is the brainchild of four friends, Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and José Martínez, who met studying enology in 2005 in Alicante. Post graduation, the foursome was drawn to projects focused on distinct parcels around Spain, mostly in Ribera Sacra and the Canary Islands, where the Atlantic makes its influence known.
The four are inexorably focused on making pure and authentic wines that express the unique terroir of every parcel they work with. In keeping with this effort, no chemicals are used in the making of any Envínate wines, all vineyards are picked by hand, grapes are foot-trodden and wines ferment exclusively with wild yeasts. The sites they've chosen to magnifying offer up endlessly complex wines that shine thanks to their low-intervention efforts.
wines are raised in old barrels and concrete, and sulfur is only added at bottling, and only when needed. The resulting wines are pure, beautiful and often profound. We can't wait to share them with you.
