We think about climate change a lot. Especially these days with the record temperatures, fires, intense weather events and lack of water we're seeing here and all over our planet. A big personal and professional goal of ours is working to lessen our collective impact on the earth and to leave the lowest carbon footprint we can.
.
We met and tasted recently with Melissa Saunders @melissamontisaunders, a Master of Wine who works tirelessly to educate about wine's carbon footprint and how packaging plays such a big role. Her belief is that box wine is the packaging type for wine with the lowest carbon footprint and arguably the least amount of waste: “My entire career is built around selling fine wine from all over the world, and I am trying to make a boxed wine for those people - for drinkers like me, or aspirational drinkers who just want to put something better in their bodies".
.
With this in mind, we're a) happy to report there's lots of delicious box wine being made (this ain't no Franzia) and b) it is high time we taste some of these organically made wines to see what the hype is all about!
Come taste with us at Vintage Berkeley on Vine street as we taste through the following all organic line up with Monika of Swirl Wines in the house!
.
Herisson Bourgogne Rosé 2021
Herisson Bourgogne Passetoutgrain 2021
Schplink! Gruner Veltliner 2021
Volpina Sangiovese 2020
